Win our battles

20 November 2013

Giles Coke has said the key to victory on Saturday is winning personal battles on the field and remaining focused from the first whistle to the last.

As is typical of all derby affairs, Coke is expecting Saturday’s lunchtime showdown with Huddersfield to be full-blooded, packed full of incident and played at a high tempo.

Throw into the mix the live TV cameras in attendance and the game has all the ingredients to be one to remember.

Speaking to swfc.co.uk, Coke said: “It’s a massive game and we really want to put things right after our defeat at Derby.

“Derby games are never normally pretty, everyone will be at it from the first whistle to the last and it will be 100 miles an hour and we will be ready for that.

“We need to be on top and we need to win our battles and if we do that, I think we’ll win the game.”

Following a disappointing defeat at Derby last time out, Coke is keen to put that game to bed and come out fighting on Saturday.

The Terriers started the campaign in good form but have slipped of late with four defeats from the last five games.

And Coke views this weekend’s game as the perfect opportunity to hit back and add three more points to the tally.

He added: “We have a big derby this weekend and it’s a good opportunity to put things right.

“Nobody wants to go into the international break on the back of a defeat but we have trained really well over the past week, we are feeling sharp and fit.

“All the players are up and ready for this game and know how important it is.

“Last time we played at home, we put in a great performance so we know we have got class in the squad and have got good players but it’s about doing it week in, week out.

“It took us a while to get that first win, but when it came, it came in good style so we know we have got it within us.”
