Deliver the goods

13 September 2013

Owls boss Dave Jones has said it is now down to his side to deliver the goods on Saturday.

After three consecutive draws, an international break and a hard week’s training, Wednesday resume their league campaign with a home clash against Yeovil this weekend.

The Owls are seeking their first win of the season against the Glovers and Jones has called on his side to be at their best for the Championship encounter.

In front of the gathered media at Middlewood Road on Friday, he said: “The one thing we try and set up here, is to make sure we are at our best.

“If we know we are at our best, then we give ourselves a far better chance of winning games than if we’re not.

“We’re the home side, and we’re expected to win, we know that and we have to deliver the goods.”

Yeovil made a bright start to the season with a 1-0 win away at Millwall but have suffered defeats in each of their last four Championship games.

Jones continued: “It’s a big jump from League 1 to the Championship but Gary has done a fantastic job there. They are a hard working team and they’ll want the points just as much as us.

“There are no guarantees in this division, you only have to look around each week to see the results that happen.

“All the games we’ve been in have been really tight and could have gone either way.

“But what I will say is that there is a really good atmosphere around the place at the moment and the players just want to get that win under their belt and will be pulling out all the stops to get it on Saturday.”

In other news, Jones has confirmed that Reda Johnson will wear the captain’s armband in the absence of Anthony Gardner.
