Social skills

The Sheffield Wednesday academy scholars were given a valuable lesson on social media skills this week.

Facilitated through the League Football Education, sports journalist Cathy Wood delivered a 90-minute presentation to the young Owls on the ever-increasing relevance of online social platforms.

Cathy has visited a raft of football clubs, with her brief to educate aspiring footballers on the positives and pitfalls of social media.

The session opened with academy manager Dean Ramsdale outlining the benefits of the event to the youngsters, who enjoyed an enlightening and engaging afternoon in the Quixall Suite at Hillsborough.

Ramsdale said: “The senior players at Sheffield Wednesday have a code of conduct specific to social media, which is vitally important in the modern world.

“It is equally important, though, that the education starts at first base for the academy players and as a high profile Championship football club, we are extremely pro-active in that respect.”
