Owls go live!

13 April 2015

Sheffield Wednesday broadcast their first ever live pre-match press conference, via Twitter and new app, Periscope last Thursday ahead of the clash with Charlton – and will stream again today ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Brentford.

The weekly pre-match press conference took place at Middlewood Road and for the first time, fans were able to watch it live as it was happening.

The press conference kicked off with defender Tom Lees who previewed the Addicks test before head coach Stuart Gray addressed the media.

Then on the matchday, supporters all over the world had live backstage access to the tunnel area, as the players emerged from the dressing rooms for the Championship clash.

The app, owned by Twitter, and accessed by iPhone, iPad and desktop, allows users to view live video content.

Simple to use, Periscope has been in development for more than a year and supporters can simply sign in with Twitter to see a list of streams that are currently live.

Once watching the stream, fans can also post comments and like the video through the app.

Supporters are encouraged to follow Wednesday to receive notifications when a live broadcasts is underway!

The Owls are amongst the first football clubs to use the new app which was launched last month and plan to use the app moving forward.

To view future live content download ‘Periscope’ from the app store and follow @swfc on Twitter.
