The cup has a special place

24 January 2018

From a young age, the FA Cup has always been a special competition for Daniel Pudil.

An avid fan of English football during his youth career in the Czech Republic, Pudil has always kept a keen eye on the FA Cup, the biggest domestic cup competition in world football.

The defender believes a cup run carries bags of value and this is the aim for the Owls on Friday night as they host Reading in round four.

“Everyone knows about the FA Cup,” he told swfc.co.uk. “I have been watching the FA Cup for as long as I can remember.

“It’s a really important cup for us.

“We have a big chance to go through to the next round with a home game and we want to take it.”

Pudil has drawn on previous cup experiences with the Owls to demonstrate the effect they can have when returning to league action.

He added: “We have to fully focus on the cup and try to get through.

“Then you look to the draw and maybe get the chance to play a big game like we did against Arsenal in the League Cup a couple of years ago.

“These games can give you a lot of confidence and a big lift, we have to take every game as it comes and take them all very seriously.”
