The Owls’ pre-season continues with a friendly against newly-promoted Premier League side Bournemouth on Friday.
The behind closed doors training ground exercise kicks off at 5:00pm in Portugal.
The climate here remains in the high 30s, with the atmosphere now essentially more regular following a forest fire yesterday a few kilometres from our training base.
Deposits of ash in the air led to the squad working in an indoor environment late afternoon but normal service was resumed this morning back on the training pitch.
Looking ahead to the Cherries game, defender Liam Palmer said: “The fitness side is going really well and it will be good to play a game to get back towards the match sharpness.
“The quality of opposition is strong, Bournemouth were promoted to the Premier League, they have really good players so this will be another good test.
“It will be good to put some of the tactical work into practice, particularly when they have the ball.
“The manager has been so thorough with all the preparation, we’ve had game times of 30s, 45s and 60s so we’re getting towards the 90s with that first game of the season against Portsmouth in mind.”
