Wednesday v Hull City
Monday 1 January
5:15pm
Championship
Hillsborough
THE MATCH
Wednesday welcome 2024 buoyed by our impressive win at Preston on Friday evening. Marvin Johnson’s first half goal gave the S6 camp a timely boost.
The gap to the safety line in the Championship is now back to six points as the Owls host Hull on New Year’s Day.
The Tigers, meanwhile, arrive at Hillsborough in good spirits themselves having edged out Blackburn by the odd goal in five on the same night, taking Liam Rosenior’s side back into the play-off positions.
TEAM NEWS
Wednesday: The Owls are waiting on Will Vaulks and Akin Famewo, both of whom were forced out of the action at Preston.
George Byers saw red, as did Bambo Diaby in the previous game against Coventry.
Hull: The Tigers have been boosted by news that Jean Michael Seri and Adama Traore will be available at Hillsborough.
The duo were scheduled to meet up with their international teams Ivory Coast and Mali respectively following Hull’s triumph on Friday, but an agreement has been reached that the players can jet out after the S6 clash.
MINUTE’S APPLAUSE
A minute’s applause will precede the game as we remember all those lost from the Wednesday family in 2023.
